In at the age of 60, Arthur Evans was knighted for his contribution to learning and science. Sir Arthur Evans lived at his house on Boars Hill, Berkshire for his last years. Sir Arthur John Evans FRS FBA FREng (8 July – 11 July ) was an English archaeologist and pioneer in the study of Aegean civilisation in the Bronze Age. He had Daedalus construct a labyrinth, a very large maze (by some connected with the double-bladed axe, or labrys) in which to retain his son, the Minotaur. Daedalus also built a dancing floor for Queen Ariadne. The name "Knossos" was subsequently adopted by Arthur on: Heraklion, Crete, Greece.
